Hi! Hola! I’m Daniela Guillen a vinyasa/power yoga teacher in Madrid. I was born in Caracas, Venezuela but grew up in the United States, around Washington D.C. (Reston, VA to be exact!).  I speak English and Spanish fluently.

My yoga journey began around 2008 when I was studying in college. I attended my first class with my college roommates and rolled around the floor giggling. It wasn’t love at first sight but something made me return to the mat. I flirted with yoga for several months after and it wasn’t until the summer of 2009 when I began to practice regularly.

At the time, I was crusading around my turbulent twenties and found that yoga helped me navigate difficult situations in my life. Yoga also alleviated my body from sitting at a desk for 8 hours a day. Through years of practice I’ve cultivated inner and outer strength.

From an early age I’ve been passionate about movement, rhythm and physical fitness. I’ve played around with other physical activities like weight training, kickboxing and Zumba (I love to dance!!).  However, yoga kept pulling me back to the mat, time after time.

I noticed I craved something more than the physical movements. The union of the body, mind and spirit is what convinced me to stay practicing.

My practice is heavily influenced by Ashtanga, vinyasa and power yoga. Currently I’m practicing in the Mysore Tradition.

About my classes

I take a holistic approach and provide my students with strong and accessible classes to work on the inner and outer body.  I like to play music and you’ll probably work up a sweat. There is also always meditation or pranayama included (breath work).

My Training

I completed my 200-RYT yoga training with Mimi Rieger, voted DC’s best yoga teacher for 2017. In Washington D.C. I’ve studied and practiced with Faith Hunter, David Kyle and recently Michael J. Hall. Early in 2017 in Madrid I have studied and practiced with Tomas Zorzo and Borja Romero-Valdespino.

In April of 2017 I practiced with R. Saraswathi Jois on her visit to Madrid. In August I spent one week in London practicing with R. Sharath Jois during his 2017 European tour.

As a constant seeker I continue to learn and study from my teachers and hope to study Ayurveda soon.

I’m grateful to all my teachers I’ve met and their willingness to share their passion, experiences and knowledge. I’m thrilled and honored to share the most authentic yoga with you.
